Studio

We founded SDCO Partners, or Stitch Design Company, as it was first known, in 2009 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Then, we were a team of two — designers & Longtime Friends

Then, we were a team of two — designers & longtime friendswho’d cut our teeth at nationally-renowned studios. While we learned much through our experiences, we knew that to advance creatively, to do the kind of work we dreamed of doing, we had to create a studio of our own. Starting a business in the middle of an economic downturn may have sounded unnecessarily challenging to some, but we knew if we could make it in that market, we’d be positioned for success.

Since 2009, we’ve grown to a

multidisciplinary team of 19 – designers, developers, writers, and thinkers.

Our growth has been intentional, incremental, and organic, responding to our clients’ evolving needs, our mission to help create, guide, and translate their visions through design, strategy, and story — and a desire to remain close to the creative process.

Over time we’ve learned new skills and continually refined others. We’ve built lasting relationships with clients, partners, and our team. As a female-founded company, we’ve faced challenges that we reframed as opportunities — to be an example — and to advocate for and support other voices in our industry and beyond.

Since our founding, we’ve been creating a body of work that people see, feel, and remember. We’ve garnered awards and recognition — and have the unbelievable opportunity to breathe new life into new, evolving, and storied brands for businesses worldwide.

For us, great design transcends mediums, disciplines, and platforms. At its most compelling, design cultivates new ways of seeing — becoming part of a richer lived experience for those who receive it and those who create it. This is why we love it.

Community

We’re working to share our resources, skills, tools, and processes as an ongoing practice. That includes everything from our Book Club reading list and sustainable vendors to partnerships with community organizations. Every year, we review our growing list of organizations and decide where our support feels most meaningful. Through our work, we have the incredible opportunity to use design, strategy, and storytelling to help people see a place, product, or idea differently; to solve problems in new, compelling ways; to engage senses, evoke emotions — and enhance life and experience. While it’s gratifying to do this work for brands across the country and around the world, we’re especially grateful for opportunities to create impact in our home communities, that is, to be in community with our community.

We focus our time, talents, and resources on organizations that create impact for:
